This page contains the stuff I use on daily basis, my decisions behind buying them and recommendations. [Work In Progress]
2024 is the year I realized I want to own less (mind you, only a realisation so far) and have selective minimalism in my life. I also want to have things that I buy it for life. Plus if I want to really own something that I want to use on daily basis this page will act as a filter – is it worth writing about it here?
Comandante Coffee Grinder
I use my comandante C40 nitro blade grinder for making daily coffee, it's a well engineered german product built to give consistent results and supposed to last for life. I make 3 cups of coffee in a day on average, so I will be using this ~1000 times a year on daily basis to kick start my day.
Favourite features:
- Consistent results on daily basis.
- How they took 5-6 years to research to get to their next iteration, this shows they don't want to shove products to the market driven by external factors.
Kensington K70990WW Orbit Wireless
This is an ergonomic trackball mouse I use on daily basis unless I am travelling with my laptop. Its ergonomic posture lets me operate the mouse with my natural wrist posture and I don't have to move the mouse.
Favourite features:
- It operates on AA battery and shows battery percentage when connected via bluetooth. I don't have to worry about recharging often, it lasts for at least 6 months.
- It does not need more surface area on table as it is trackball based and you don't move the mouse at all.
Annoyance:
- If your environment is dusty, the trackball glitches. I recently moved to an apartment where there's too much dust because of the location, and every few days I thoroughly need to clean the mouse removing the trackball for it to work.
Moonlander Mark II
This is my first ergo keyboard, previously I was using apple magic keyboard. It took me nearly a month to get used to split keyboard and several months to get back my typing speed. The keyboard is really sturdy and it's my daily object for last one year.
Favourite features:
- Build quality - the plastic is premium and keys are sturdy
- Extremely customizable with their software - instead of moving fingers to keys, you can bring keys to the fingers
- I like the style and tilt mechanisms, my workspace looks like a cockpit. the red buttons goes well with the red track ball of my Kensington mouse
Retired (won't recommend anymore)
HydraPeak Cup
Wouldn't recommend this product anymore, the handle broke
This is an unintentional buy that I got at Marshalls as it was on sale. This is an alternative to Stanley cup, initially I thought it's a knock off but it's as good as Stanley, it already sustained multiple 2.5ft falls and has been on multiple flights with me.
This became my daily use object as I can hit my 3-3.5L water intake easily, probably the straw is one reason.
Favourite features:
1. Reliability.
2. It has open handle unlike Stanley so I hook it up in back seats of car, flight seats and even on side of my bag.
